Detroit Audubon is partnering with Arboretum Detroit and Detroit Future City to offer birding workshops and events at Circle Forest in 2022 and 2023.

Join us for our first workshop: Introduction to Birding- Part Oneled by Detroit Audubon Research Coordinator, Ava Landgraf. We will discuss all the basics such as how to get started birding, when and where to look for birds, how to use binoculars and ID guides, learning bird behavior and field marks, practicing appreciation with and without species identification, as well as learning some helpful tips and tricks.

The lesson will take place at the camp fire site at Circle Forest (3301 Palmer St). Most of the seating will be logs and rocks but we will have more traditional chairs as well. We will provide flyers with information to take home, but you may also like to bring materials to take your own notes.

The workshop will be about an hour, with additional time at the end to look for birds and practice identification. After some birding practice, folks are welcome to stick around for any bird related questions and further discussion.

Please keep in mind bathroom facilities are not available.

Sign up through Eventbrite is not required but it is helpful for us to get an idea of the number of participants.

We will be outside but still encourage wearing a mask. If you have any Covid-19 symptoms or have been exposed to anyone with Covid-19, please stay home.

If you have any questions, Please call Ava at 313-800-1578 and leave a message.
