Patiense Grove started out as a renegade tree planting spot for Patiense, Birch’s King High School student from years ago. Patiense became our friend after graduating, and sometimes when she got the blues, she would call and say: “Birch, let’s plant some trees!” After her passing away, we dedicated this spot to her memory.
This year we are able to formally connect this parcel to the rest of the Arboretum, and there is some clean up and organizing that needs to happen here, like removing an old fence line, spreading some leaf litter mounds, mulching, and creating a path.
Come get some gloves on and help us with these tasks! Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear closed toed shoes. Please bring a water bottle - we will have water to refill your bottles.
